Kill Your Darlings
Kill Your Darlings (great name) is a Vienna-style lager made by the Thornbridge Brewery in Bakewell Derbyshire. Its ruddy brown colour is derived from the high-kilned Vienna malt and has a really delicious sweet, slightly toasty roasted malt flavour and a subtle bitter finish from Amarillo and Tettnager hops. Lagered for five weeks, its the real deal and at over three quid for 500ml its ideal to be appreciated on its own or with food. It would go well with woody, earthy flavours such as wild mushroom risotto or rind washed cheeses.
Available from Trafalger Winers, Brighton; at the brewery and online. See www.thornbridgebrewery.co.uk for stockists.
